It really has been a spectacular autumn with glorious, warm sunny days, an incredible quality of light and a rich palette of colours that are finally reaching their peak 🍂

But the seasons run their inevitable course and, ready or not, it’s time to switch to winter mode, ❄️🏔👍

It’s not going to last, we know that 😉

Which is why we’re greedily making the most of every minute of the glorious autumn sunshine and enjoying some fabulous mountain hiking whilst the peaks remain free of snow.

The autumn colours in the Pyrenees mountains are reaching their peak with a palette of yellows and reds on which to feast our eyes 🍁☀️⛰

The #aigüestortes National Park across the border in Spain has been our most recent adventure playground.

It’s known as the land of 1000 lakes for a reason!

The hiking is rough underfoot and very challenging at times, but the views soon make you forget the intensity of your effort!

It’s possible to create any number of multi day hiking circuits in this area, with overnights in catered mountain refuges possible up to the end of September.

What an action-packed, fun-filled summer this is turning out to be!

It’s so wonderful to be back doing what we do best.

The families that we’ve already had the pleasure of welcoming to the #pyreneesmountains this summer have all had the time of their lives.

It’s been smiles all round as they’ve tackled rock climbing, off-road Segway, off-road scooter, canyoning, mountain biking, horse riding, river rafting and gosh, so much more 👍😀☀️⛰

They’ve also taken full advantage of our local knowledge to eat at the best restaurants, visit local food producers and swim in our favourite mountain lakes.

We’re now cranking up to peak holiday season and the fun dial is set to max!

You’re a mountain loving trail runner?

Trail running with a backdrop of the highest peak in the Pyrenees, Pic Aneto (3404m alt) is a breathtaking experience in more ways than one!

With the Luchon Aneto trail race just a few weeks away, we encountered a fair few runners on our hike today, reccying the course and getting in that final training.

The Pyrenees are a fabulous adventure playground for trail runners.

A great deal of time and effort has gone into creating a huge variety of way-marked and graded circuits for all running abilities.

There are also numerous possibilities for post-run recovery, including the only natural hammam in Europe and the relaxing geothermally heated pools of the Balnea spa facility.

For small groups of max 8 trail runners we can create an unforgettable week of mountain explorations with a local guide if you don’t want to worry about getting lost!

It’s not too early to plan that 2023 mountain running adventure 👍😀🏃‍♀️⛰☀️

You want wild? I’ll give you wild! As the snow

You want wild? I’ll give you wild!

As the snow recedes, I took the opportunity today to check out a hike that has been on my radar for some while.

In the winter, the hike up to the cabane de Auloueilh above Aulon is undertaken with snowshoes.

But in the Spring it’s a beautiful, wild hike, overlooked by the emblematic Pic d’Arbizon along the whole route.

The river courses are supercharged with all that snow melt from the high mountains and are a spectacular sight at this time of year!

The wildflowers were out in abundance and included early purple orchids and emerging asphodels. Beautiful!

The cabane is set in a beautiful, rugged landscape and is the perfect spot for just sitting awhile and taking in the vastness of the environment.

Our local guiding partners often take our guests on this route and on up to grab a peak during the outing too!

Well, that's the end of that!

After what seems like a particularly long winter, the temperatures are finally rising and the snow level in the high mountains is receding 🌄👍😃

Just in time, as we're welcoming our first American guests of the year in a couple of weeks time!

On their tailor made hiking trip, they can look forward to 6 days of hiking with one of our fabulous local guides, with walking tailored to their ability.

In addition, we will take care of making restaurant reservations for them at some of the best local eateries and will introduce them to some of our favourite local producers at one of the best markets in the area.

We will ensure they have a truly memorable adventure in the Pyrenees mountains!

It’s not over until it’s over!

Thanks to a surprise blast of Arctic weather at the weekend, the #Pyreneesmountains are once again plastered in snow.

All the ski resorts fell silent on Sunday after a final frenzy on the slopes.

So today we headed up to the small but perfectly formed Nistos Nordic ski centre for a final fling on the snowshoes in what were simply perfect snow conditions.

The wall to wall sunshine and blue skies were the icing on the cake!

But now, it really must be time to pack away the snowshoes until next season and look forward to the summer season which will be here before you know it!

It’s shaping up to be a cracker with already a record number of families who’ve booked to come down for some multi activity adventure fun.

We’ve also got several bespoke hiking trips, mountain biking weeks and horse trekking fun to look forward to, too.

Bring on the summer!
